The "Why" of Stahoo's - 10/22/2024
15 years ago, my curiosity, the desire to create something, and the fact that brewing beer is just cool - came together. My brother-in-law and I came across some used homebrew equipment. With the guidance of a friend, who I knew to make some pretty good beer - we brewed our first batch of 5 gallons and immediately graduated to making 20-gallon batches. I worked in the nonprofit arena for 30 years, for large international organizations as well as smaller groups where I was the only paid staff. I raised money, traveled, and dealt with a cadre of volunteers, many of whom were highly successful and members of the Forbes 100 List. Admittedly, it was fun as well as enlightening to listen and learn from some of America's leading entrepreneurs and philanthropists. Yet, after 30 years and having worked for many different groups across the United States, my patience and desire to work for these organizations and people slowly, but steadily waned. Heidi was the fuel that made Stahoo's a reality. Her encouragement, if not outright insistence, is why we opened a brewery. I was cautious, skeptical, and hesitant. She pushed, planned, and convinced me that we should open a brewery. Our goal is to produce great beer with the finest, most natural ingredients. We strive to make our taproom a fun, inviting place. We love to share our story, as well as the original stories behind every beer we make. If you know a Pollock, you know they love to have a good party. Making sure people have an enjoyable time is our goal every time we open our doors or pour a pint. In Polish, "Witamy" means welcome. You can feel and taste it in every beer we make.
